Breed Standard Basics

Siberian Huskies are members of the working group. They are a medium size dog with a well furred body, erect ears and a fox-brush tail.

Males grow to be 21 – 23 1/2 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 45 – 65 lbs, while females should measure 20 – 22 inches and weigh between 35 – 50 lbs.

They possess a double coat, having an insulating undercoat of fluffy down to protect them from harsh northern climates. Their coloring can be any combination or variety of colors including but not limited to black & white, all black, all white, grey & white, wolf grey, silver & white, copper & white, light red, sable & white, black & tan and saddle back.

The eyes of Siberian Huskies also can be any color or combination of colors. Siberians can have blue eyes, ice eyes, green eyes, brown eyes, amber eyes, bi-eyes or parti-eyes. Bi-eyes are recognized by having one eye of one color and the other eye of another color. Parti-eyes are eyes that have two colors in the same eye.

The tail of the Siberian Husky is of fox-brush shape is usually carried over the back in a graceful sickle curve when the dog is at attention. When carried up, the tail does not curl to either side of the body, nor does it snap flat against the back.

The Siberian Husky is a thrifty eater and should maintain a lean, but muscular body, showing clean lines and definition.
