Grooming

Grooming is a necessity for the Husky owner, whether you groom your dog yourself or opt to use a professional groomer.
“Blowing Coat” in the Spring and Fall are times of seriously intense shedding, therefore grooming can speed this process along and help to eliminate unwanted pet hair on furniture and clothing.
You can opt to use a professional dog groomer, but I highly recommend checking them out thoroughly.
Please get references from local groomers, talk to other pet owners who’ve used the groomer’s services before you trust any stranger with your canine companion.
I’ve used several groomers over the years and have experienced a variety of unwanted results, including skin infections, an infected toe and I actually caught a groomer’s assistant leaving Echo unattended on a table where she fell and hung herself. When the woman realized what had happened, she got Echo’s hind feet back on the table and raised her hand as if she were going to hit her in the face, until she saw that I was there watching her.
If at all possible I recommend grooming your husky yourself. It’s a good time to bond, increase or reaffirm trust and respect with your pet. I’ve found it’s a great opportunity to check for skin problems, injuries, fleas, ticks, anything that might require attention. It’s also a great time to offer a massage to relax your pet and pamper them a bit.
I’ll share my experiences, the tools and tips that have worked for me to help you make a more informed decision about grooming.
