Clean, Safe Environment
One of the most important things we can do to keep our canine friends healthy and safe is to control the cleanliness of their environment.
Many of our canine friends live outside in their own house, or spend a good amount of time in their yard playing, getting exercise. It’s important that we keep their environment clean and free of waste.
Keeping the waste out of the yard benefits everyone. It will remove offensive odors from the environment, reduce the number of insects in the yard as well as reduce the intrusion of stray pets and animals that may be attracted to such odors, causing them to ‘mark’ the area, creating more waste and odor.
Waste, left unattended to, can pose a health hazard to our canine friends, as well as small children who may play in the yard.
Our canine companions can develop skin conditions, infections, or acquire parasites as a result of an unclean environment.
Remember that it’s just as important to clean up after your canine companion when you’re out walking. Leaving their waste behind can cause health concerns for other dogs, is offensive to other people who frequent the area and in many municipalities the law requires us to clean up after our pets.
It’s a good idea to monitor your dog’s waste from time to time, to be sure there are no parasites or blood present.
